What a fun gig! The band for this was: George Buckner on banjo, Matt Combs on fiddle, Hee-Day Watanabe on 2nd guitar, Mike Bub on bass and our new friend Mark Horn on percussion. We recorded with our MP3 recorder and a small stereo microphone.

Grey Eagle - with: David Long, Nikos Pappas and Kevin Kehrberg (1.02MB)

I met fiddler Nikos Pappas and bassist Kevin Kehrberg in Pittsburgh . Nikos has a vast knowledge of fiddle tunes, over 450 that he can name and play. Along with David Long on mandolin we made a recording of some tunes at David's house. This is one of the cuts.

Recorded at the "Duck Room" in St.Louis on Feb. 26,2000. This version of the Stringband was: John on fiddle and vocals, Mike Compton on mandolin, Larry Perkins on bass, Larry Perkins on banjo, and myself on guitar.

The current featured download, "Old Flames", is a song that will be on the upcoming release by the Tipton Hill Boys. We plan to release this CD in the early part of 2009.
